English 310 Edublogs: Here We Go

By RR | September 5, 2007

A number of us have already set up edublogs for our course. I hope that we find these to be useful writing tools this semester, and I am excited by our use of Google Reader to add depth and relevance to our blog writing. I know that there are a lot of technical questions at this point–how exactly does Google Reader work? How do I add a blogroll?–and we’ll definitely address these on Thursday in class. In the meantime, please take the following into account:

Your opening post should identify your topic for the semester (and what you hope to learn about it), list the feeds you are subscribed to via Google Reader, and explain why you think these feeds will be helpful. Remember, the beauty of the blog is that you may go back and revise this opening statement, multiple times if you’d like.

Don’t worry about writing your first comment by Thursday. We’re still getting the complete list of blogs together.

You can begin adding the following classmates to your blogroll. Students who have kept edublogs in previous classes have been noted as experts:

To add everyone’s feed in one clean swoop, just right click and copy this bundle link (created at Feedbite), and then paste it into your Google Reader account using the ADD SUBSCRIPTION feature. Notice that you are now subscribed to your classmates’ blogs, my blog, the “This I Believe” podcast from NPR, and YA! Cast, a podcast produced by my English 311 students. Cool huh?
