Just heard an interesting NPR review of the site Book Glutton. The idea here is pretty cool: you can chat with other readers as you read texts (all public domain), or leave a short comment on a select passage. Think social networking meets Kindle. This might have some pretty interesting applications in my literature and methods courses.

The site also allows you to create groups and share e-texts with them. Group members can chat with one another as they read the e-text or leave comments. Book glutton also allows you to convert existing html electronic texts (you can grab these from Project Gutenberg) into ePub format, which is a fairly readable format. I like the embed feature, too:

It might be cool to read some public domain works collaboratively with class members, though this depends on people being online at the same time. Cool site.
